Prospective applicants to the International Master's Program of Applied Economics & Social Development (IMES) are offered different scholarships by the Taiwan Government and National Chengchi University. These may help cover some of your expenses while studying in Taiwan.

Taiwan Scholarship

Taiwan scholarships cover most of your expenses while studying in Taiwan. In summary, these scholarships:

  1. Covers tuition and credit fees for 2 years for master programs.
  2. Provides a monthly stipend of NT$20,000 to qualified foreign graduate students.
  3. Should you wish to apply for the Taiwan Scholarship, you should apply for it at the Taiwan Trade Representative’s Office or Embassy in your home country. You will need to do so concurrently with your application to the IMES program.

Many students on Taiwan Scholarships find that they need only a little more, such as for entertainment, visits home, and traveling to conferences.

International New Student Scholarship

New incoming international students who are not recipients of other government scholarships such as Taiwan Scholarship are eligible for the Scholarship for New International Students. New Students Academic scholarship (Draft)

Criteria for New Students Academic Scholarships Guidelines

To be eligible to apply for a New Students Academic Scholarships, the following criteria must be met:

All academic scholarships candidates must be new coming students with the approval of enrollment shall be defined by IMES program with respect to National Chengchi University.

To be considered for achieving Prospective Students Academic Scholarships, all applicants must submit a completed application form through paper application, inclusive of the following documents:

  1. Transcripts from the applicant’s current or most recently attended college or university. Transcripts that have been downloaded, screenshot, or printed and scanned directly from the applicant’s college or university website are not acceptable for the submission of the scholarship application.
  2. IMES must receive official transcripts directly from the student or university before scholarship funds can be released to scholarship recipients.
  3. Should you wish to apply for the Taiwan Scholarship, you should apply for it at the Taiwan Trade Representative’s Office or Embassy in your home country. You will need to do so concurrently with your application to the IMES program.
  4. Resume.
  5. 500 words of a personal statement need to be submitted.
  6. One reference from college or university’s professor.

Deadline for Prospective Students Academic Scholarships will be announcement by Staff of IMES office. Normally, it takes places in the middle of September after two weeks of new semester starts. This scholarship will offer once a year only.
