Applications for the Fall 2020 IMAS Scholarship are open! Qualifications and Requirements First and second year students may apply. Applicants must take at least two courses per semester. Students sponsored by any Taiwan government agencies (i.e. ICDF Scholarship, Taiwan/MOE/MOFA Scholarship) are not eligible to apply. Meet Talents in IDAS
One of IDAS students, Manoj Kumar Panigrahi from India was honored for his contributions to public services by Ministry of Education (MOE). A total of 13 beneficiaries of the Taiwan Scholarship and Huayu Enrichment Scholarship Program were recognized by the Ministries of Education and Foreign Affairs for outstanding performances during their stay in the country. Panigrahi has delivered over 100 speeches and organized activities at around 50 elementary and junior high schools countrywide in an effort to promote local understanding of India. Panigrahi has a keen interest in Mandarin and politics.
IMAS PUBLIC LECTURE: SURVIVABILITY OF SOMALILAND
IMAS invited students to join the lecture on "Survivability of Somaliland: State-Building, Democratisation and Taiwan-Somaliland Relationship" by guest speaker Somaliland representative Mohamed Hagi. Upon arrival, they met with representatives of our college and international programs. CSS IMES Orientation Fall 2020
On September 11, 2020, the International Master’s Program of Applied Economics and Social Development (IMES) held an orientation for new students which was also attended by the program’s mentors Prof. Huilin Li (Department of Economics), Prof. Lizhong Hu (Department of Sociology) and Prof. Courtney Work (Department of Ethnology). We warmly welcome our freshmen from Taiwan and all over the world. After the formal welcome procedures indoors, we continued our activities with a hike to Zhinan Mountain and Maokong which ended with a dinner, both jointly organized with other International Programs
Congratulations Dr. Václav Linkov
IDAS congratulates former student Vaclav Linkov for receiving the the Early Career Award by the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology (IACCP). Dr. Linkov has examined the way in which East Asian cultures are stereotyped by major cross-cultural theorists. He has made content analyses of major psychological journals, showing the way that results are overgeneralised beyond the cultural groups originally sampled, and examined the manner in which individuals are often treated as stereotypic tokens of their group. He has developed a critique of the etic research approach based on lexical analyses
