It is December, the perfect time in Taiwan to experience the outskirts of the bustling city. Our students had the opportunity to experience Indigenous culture in Wulai, home to the Atayal people. After a short trip to New Taipei City’s southern mountain district, students engaged in traditional customs and crafts of the Atayal. A firsthand approach showed them indigenous weaving techniques, archery, and the process of making millet produce. The excursion ended with a taste of traditional Indigenous cuisine within Wulai’s beautiful forest.
